I'am just crushed to hear this. Growing up as a kid in Michigan Sheldon was the person to try and be like in the field trial world. I have so much RESPECT for this man! He loved the field trial dogs. I know I can count on one hand the people that were as good with dogs as he was! He loved a tree dog,and if they came from his house they could track! Sheldon bred, raised and trained some damn good dogs and many retired there till their last days. He and Mable and Jimmy Berden bought some good ones also. Sheldon was a teacher to the younger generation,I use to like to listen to some of the stories he would tell from days gone by. I'm so glad I took the time to visit with them last time they were to Ohio. I always liked to razz him about the jack daniels bottle behind the seat of the truck, that Round Trip always made him take a slug! I'm gonna miss you my mentor and my friend!!! R.I.P.

Thoughts and prayers to the family what a great person he was. He was our cross the road neighbor at Kenton for many years. I used to marvel at his dogs when he walked them they never tightened the lead just walked along behind him and if stopped they did to. Many nice visits with him thru the years. We can't even imagine Sheldon being gone. He's been a part of the Field Trial world it seems forever and we will miss him very much. Can still remember when he was leading one of his dogs over to a pond to get a drink and got the lead strap wrapped around his legs and fell in and Greg Pyles ran over and saved the day!! His family has our deepest sympathy. Jim & Barb

Sheldon was truely a great man and dogman. I am honored to have called him my friend. His presence will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and I am sorry I learned of it too late to pay my respects.
